Grandma's specialty section includes some of my favorite special recipes. Everyone has those special dishes that you consider your "speciality" whether you are one of those individuals who loves to cook or you're like my sister-in-law, Tracy. The family has always made fun of Tracy not cooking throughout her marriage to my brother because he does almost all the cooking. She said that it isn't that she can't cook, but they she doesn't have to cook! My brother just has always been the cook in their family since their kids were little. So. these recipes are in honor of my brother, Andy and men everywhere who love to cook.
We alll enjoy those dishes that a special friend or family member has passed on to us. I'm very fortunate that I have created some of my own special recipes that hopefully I can pass on to others throughout the years. Remember to have fun when cooking and experiment a little. If a recipe doesn't fit your taste buds, then alter it according to what you like. Sometimes just that extra pinch of spice or a drop of flavoring can change a recipe entirely. As For example, if you and your family love lemon, add lemon flavoring or lemon juice to that plain cake that you make and don't stop there, add a lemon glaze as well. As you can see from the photos below, my personal speciality are desserts and appetizers. These recipes have been passed down from my great-grandmother to my grandmother, to my mother, and then I have the honor of preparing them for my family and friends. I really hope that you enjoy them. They are great recipes to share with your office when you have snibble days. That is what we call it in the "South" when everyone brings in a dish to share with your co-workers. Sometimes they are simply desserts and snacks but often turn into entire meals. Holidays or occassions where everyone has been working long hours are a perfect opportunity for you to bring in a specialty dish to impress your peers. So, let's get started on impressing them now!
